If you’ve ever felt something you feel shame and sadness about, the best thing you can do is just stop. The next best thing you can do is remind yourself that you can’t change what you did. You can’t make your past better. You can’t make the future better. And you can’t fix what you did.
You can try to get it out of your head, but the best way to do that is to tell yourself you cant change it. But this is a lie. This is a trick the mind uses to protect itself from the truth. The first step to reclaiming your life is admitting that you can change your past by turning it around. If you can turn it around, you can make it better.
So you can’t really change your past because you can’t change what you did. But you can make it better. You can turn it around and turn your past around so it no longer holds you back.
The hardest part is deciding whether you want to turn your life around. We all have one, and it isn’t the easiest thing to change. But if you can take the first step, you can take the rest.
I believe in a process that is more about change and less about “turning” things around, and that is to identify and change the most important things in our lives, the “things that change us.” The more I have to do to change the things that are truly holding me back, the harder it will be to make a better life.
