Roxane Gay has taken a stand in the wake of the #MeToo movement and is determined to fight for women to be treated equally. She says #MeToo is the reason she’s staying away from men.

In reality, she’s more in support of women not being treated equally because she says we should be able to have choices in life. She’s not just staying away from men because she doesn’t want to date them, but because she doesn’t want to be treated as “less than” by them.

Yes, she is trying to take a stand in the wake of the MeToo movement. And yes, she feels we as women don’t deserve the same rights as men. But she also finds that it’s still impossible to be treated equally when we’re treated differently by society. Women and men should be given the same right to have what we want.

The problem is her stand isnt to end the sex industry, its to end the discrimination against women and homosexuals in the military.

I am glad that she is taking a stand, but I wonder if she feels the same about the military. What a ridiculous notion, and it just shows how out of touch we really are. And I think it is important to remember that the military (and all other institutions) are not perfect, and when things like this happen, we shouldn’t expect them to be.

I think it would be a stretch to say that she has a right to be a woman. But I do think we can have a right to be, say, human. For those of us who are not human, we have a duty to be human. I have no interest in taking her stand to end sexism in the military, which is a terrible thing, but I don’t think that women should be discriminated.

Roxane Gay is a woman, and she is a human. That doesn’t mean that she shouldn’t be in combat. She did not ask for this assignment, and if she had not been able to do it, she would be in far, far worse shape. I also don’t think that there is anything wrong with Roxane Gay. She is a brilliant writer, musician, and badass.
