This week we’ve been talking about how we can “be more mindful of the self” and how “self-awareness is a skill set that is worth acquiring.” Well, in addition to being more mindful of the self, we also need to be aware of the self-awareness. When we are aware of it, we can take better action. That’s what allows us to take on more meaningful tasks in life.

As a matter of fact, there’s a great book called “The Art of Self-Awareness” that is one of the most widely read self-awareness books available. The author, Robert Emmons, is a professor at Harvard’s School of Education, and he teaches a class called the “Creativity for Self-Awareness” class, in which each student takes six assignments.

The class works like this: Students are given an assignment. They have to write out a short sentence that expresses themselves in their own words. They are also required to record themselves in a journal. The instructor will then review the assignment and determine, from the student’s record, where in their writing they did poorly or where they did well. The instructor then asks the student to share with the class what they learned from the assignment.

My college psychology classes will definitely be familiar to many of you. The assignment is to write a poem, and then, in turn, the poem is to be reviewed and evaluated. In the end, the poem is either accepted or rejected. One thing I was taught in college was that the poem itself is not important. It’s the review part that counts.

In a poem, the poet is essentially the writer. In a poem review, the poet is essentially the reader. If we feel a poem has been well-written then we can decide whether the poem is good or bad. We can also decide on whose writing has been better. If we think another writer has done a better job at writing a poem, then we can try to figure out why. It’s quite different than judging whether someone is good or bad on a personal level.

Another way of looking at it is if you’re trying to evaluate a poem’s quality by judging it on its own merits, then its a bad poem if you don’t like it. If you’re looking at it through the eyes of a critic, then the poem is good if you think it’s brilliant and well-written.

Poetry is a lot of different things than other forms of poetry. It’s one of the only things that can be judged based on a personal aesthetic. This is because it is not so much a personal thing as it is a form of communication. We are all influenced by the personal things we read and see in poetry. I think the things we are influenced by are both personal and from the outside, and are influenced by other things.

One of the things that poets do is analyze everything they are reading. The more time we spend reading and analyzing poetry, the more we come to understand the meaning behind it. For instance, when we read a poem, we want to make sure we understand from where it comes its message. We look at other poems to see what we can learn from them. As we read more of the same poem, we begin to analyze it and see what we can learn.

We’ve all read poems. However, poetry is just a tool, as we use it to make meanings and discover hidden messages. The trick is to make the meaning we see in a poem clearer and more meaningful. For example, in this poem, I was trying to convey the beauty of a rainbow to you. I had no clear ideas of what that meant, so I took the poem and put it on a wall, and you could see the rainbow in a very clear way.

I often find myself getting lost in a poem once I open it. Then I try to figure out what I’m supposed to learn from it. This is the time when I use poetry as a tool to get things out.
