I love this quote from Richard Dawkins. It is a great example of how we can be on autopilot for an entire day and still think we are awake. Our bodies are basically a computer. This is what gives us the ability to survive in the first place.

There are very few things that we know we can’t do because of some sort of “inability” that we don’t think about. In the end, though, it may not be a matter of a little bit of effort, but rather of a great deal of self-awareness.

The ability to “do” something we didn’t think we could, or the ability to “think” about something we didn’t think we could, is the ability to self-awareness. And that’s what it takes to survive. Every time we do something we don’t think we can, we take the ability to think about it, and to “do” it.

The key word here is “think.” It is so important to remember that not only should we develop our own self-awareness, but also to remember that every day we are not a part of the collective consciousness of the entire human race. We are in the minority, and we are in danger. So every time we choose not to be part of the collective consciousness of the human race, we are choosing not to be the same thing that so many others are.
