We all know that it is not necessary to highlight your documents in google drive, but it can be a good idea to do it a few times a day. With this Google Drive tutorial, we’ll show you how to highlight your documents and add a few keystrokes to show your highlights.
The problem is with highlighting documents is that it seems like everything is going to start looking like a slideshow, so if you want to be able to make them stand out, you might want to add some “stamp images” to your documents. When you highlight, you can also select and copy everything in the document. This is great if you want to take a look at the entire document in one go, or for things like formatting or images that you want to keep as separate files.
As I mentioned in my last post in this series, the highlights are one of the most fun things Google’s doing. I think it’s a brilliant idea to be able to highlight text in Google Docs, or in the browser in this case, but it seems that Google is only doing it in the browser. They’re still only doing it in the browser. In a document, you can just highlight something and it automatically adjusts itself to your selected document.
So, if you click a link in a Google Doc, it looks like its going to jump to a new page, but it actually doesn’t. It just takes you to the new page that has the highlighted link you clicked. You can also have it go directly to the link you clicked, but it will only do so if the link is not already highlighted in the current document.
You can get around this by selecting the link in the current document and clicking the ‘Select’ button in the upper-right corner. This will pop up the option to highlight the link, and it will then take you to the newly selected document. This is a nice thing because it keeps the browser’s focus on the page you are looking at. When the page is in focus, you can easily click on it and go directly to the link you clicked.
It’s not just a matter of selecting the link in the document, it’s also important to remember that the page you are clicking is not the one you’re looking at, it’s the page you are looking at.
If Google Drive is not working and you want to highlight a link, I tend to do it by pressing the shift key and then clicking on the link. You may need to move your finger to the shift key, depending on your keyboard layout.
On my Macbook, I do this by pressing the shift key and then clicking on the link. I don’t do it in Google Chrome, because I don’t have the Chrome add-ons that make it possible.
It may seem obvious, but for what it’s worth, I’ve been known to highlight links manually in Google Docs the same way. I think all the shortcuts make it easier to learn.
