Another thing that is very much reminiscent of the old Atari 2600 is the sound in the game. The camera is very much focused on the environment, so you really get to feel the difference between the old and the new.
One of the new generation’s more noticeable features is the lack of sound in the game. Not a single sound effect. The game’s soundtrack is composed entirely of ambient sounds that don’t interact with the gameplay. In the old days the game would have sound effects that would interrupt the gameplay to give you a sense of immersion. With the new generation it just sounds like it was made for the old generation.
The other noticeable change is that more of the music will be composed of ambient sounds. This is because the old version of Deathloop’s music was composed entirely of electronic sounds. Now, the game will have more ambient sounds.
The only change to the gameplay that I really care about is the addition of new music. But the rest of the changes are very minor and won’t change the game in an important way.
