While there is certainly a lot of research that goes into the development of a person’s character, I think what is important to remember is that the actions and thoughts of characters in the novel and movie are very much based on our own experiences. These experiences can lead us to be angry, sad, bored, or confident. We can read a character’s actions and attitudes and then use them to create our own version of their character.
The author is actually quite careful to make the characters development as realistic as it could be. If he’s writing a horror novel about a killer dog, he doesn’t write a scene where the writer describes the character as “calm and cool.” The character’s attitude is based on what we’re experiencing and what we know now. This is done by using what we know about the character, and then using that to create the mood in the scene.
This character development is done in the first-person perspective, which means that we have almost complete control over our own actions and reactions.
