No, we didn’t. Our blog’s limit is actually a lot more difficult to grasp, but we did the best we could.
It’s like we were trying to sell a house but it had the words “home” and “homes” in it and we couldn’t remember which one we wanted to sell the house to.
Not only did our blog limit fail to limit words, it also got our query set to a random number. One of the many advantages of using Google Analytics as a web analytics tool is the ability to set a query to any word or phrase, even ones you wouldn’t normally use.
If you set a query to any word or phrase, you can limit how many results come back. But that means you can only see the first 32. And that is a lot. Our blog limit has an upper limit of 3,000 word posts, so many of our blog posts are too long, so we just can’t post them. If you set a query to any word or phrase, you can see how many pages come back and you can see if they are yours.
I have heard of people setting their search to anything, but there is no reason to. Thats like setting a search to “I’m going to go to bed now” or “I’m going to get a drink.” And when I say “I’m going to get a drink,” I mean it. I’m not going to go to bed, I’m going to get a drink.
And I know you’re probably thinking, “A blog is a blog is a blog,” and you are right. But that is NOT the case. A blog is a blog is a blog, and that is just how the internet works. Sure, there are exceptions like the NY Times, but in general the internet works that way.
So why limit queries to 32 words? Why not make sure you get enough of the story to read? Many people don’t read blogs, and instead they read only their news sites, or they read news websites, or they read blogs for a specific theme and ignore everything else. So you need to consider what you are doing before you decide to limit your query to 32 words.
To be fair, Google only allows you to limit your searches to 32 words. But you may have noticed that Google also allows you to add a “no follow” search field. This is because many people may not have the time to read every blog post, so they want a simple way to see if a blog is worth following. This is also why people who don’t want to follow someone may not want to add this field.
I don’t think this is a very good idea, but it is allowed. Google suggests that you should use no follow when you are unsure if someone is worthy of following. This is because Google would rather see that your query doesnt have any follow links, and this will help Google to make sure your query doesnt have follow links.
Yes, I know that people who want to follow people they dont know are allowed to use nofollow. I am also very clear about the restriction. As of now I have not tested any of my blog posts for this reason. I will probably do that soon.
