For example, let’s say we want to find out how many people are in a room. The first thing you would do is make sure that the door of the room is closed and then count how many chairs there are around the table.
If all twelve chairs have someone sitting on them, you know that there must be 12 people in the room! That means we’ve counted 13 pieces of information so far – but since we started with one piece (the number of chairs), our total amount of information after counting for two minutes should be 24 pieces at most. This tells us that one person left while we were counting or else it could mean they’re hiding under a chair!
