The order of the events in this text is structured according to: 1) what happened; 2) how that event happened; and 3) what was previously known about that event.
In this text we see what happened, what was known about it and what was previously known about it. Text that starts “I’m here because…” and then adds details about what happened in a more detailed and structured way is called “structured narrative” and is extremely effective.
Text that describes events in the order that they happened is structured according to 1 what happened 2 how that event happened and 3 what was previously known about that event.
An example of structured narrative is the sequence of events in the movie The Thing with the Apple Cider Vines. In this first section of the text we learn what happened, we learn what was known about it, and we learn what was previously known about it.
We’re told later in the story, that the “heroes” (the Visionaries) who created the island were not the only ones who created it. There were “others” who were also involved in creating the island. There were even “others” who created the island after the Visionaries created it.
The structure of the narrative is important. We see this in The Thing with the Apple Cider Vines because that’s when the story begins. Later in the story, we learn more about the hero who created the island, but we don’t learn anything about the other heroes who were involved in creating the island.
This is because the island was created by the heroes after they created the island. In this case the heroes that created the island are the ones who later create the island. The heroes that create the island are the ones that create the island after the heroes create the island.
The story of Blackreef starts by explaining how the island got its name and where the island is. This is because the island was named after a race of people who escaped slavery. A good bit later on we learn more about the island, but not why the island was named after a race of people. This island name was created by a hero who escaped slavery. The people who created the island were the ones who created the island after the heroes created the island.
Because we’re on that island, we’re told that the island is a self-contained system. This is true of the majority of the islands in the galaxy, but not of Blackreef. The reason for this is that the heroes created the island after the island was created, so there are no more islands to create. This is because the heroes created the island to be the sole home of the island’s population.
A second reason for this is that the heroes created the island to be an entire system, which meant they created a whole new island. The heroes created the island to be self-contained, and so they created a whole new island. When the heroes created the island from scratch they created a whole new island. And so they created a whole new island. And so on.
