metaphors to describe yourself

Many of us are so self-absorbed in our day-to-day lives that we forget to take any time to be self-aware. I mean really, that’s what we do. We spend so much time in the social media realm or the “real world” that we forget to stop and pause and reflect. So, in honor of this season I will be sharing things that I am learning about myself and others.

The topic for today is self-awareness. Before I explain metaphors, I want to point to how my mind works. I often think of the word “self” and I think of it as something that is separate from you, and that you don’t own. I think it’s a similar idea to “the soul” or “spirit”.

The same way you can think of your soul as a separate entity from your body. You can think of your soul as an independent being that is you and that has a body of its own. Or you can think of it as a part of you, one part of your being that is the same as your body.

You can think of yourself as a separate entity, or as a part of you, or as a separate part of you. This is a fairly common way to think about the self. Often you see it as a person that has a separate identity from your body. We are the same person no matter whether we are in a state of body or mind. When we are mind-body split (btw, what is the state of mind?) we still think we are the same person.

In a state of body mind, you are the same person. You are still you. You are not part of you. You are part of your body. You are not separate from your body. There is something a little bit more, uh… “you” in the other, you. You are you. You are the part of you that is not your body.

You are the part of you that is not the body. “Bodies are made of energy/matter and therefore they exist in a state of flux. The body itself is a product of the mind, and the mind is the mind.

The brain is the part of the body that contains the memory. The mind is the part of the body that contains the knowledge. The body is the part of the mind that contains the emotions. The mind is the part of the body that contains the personality. The body is the part of the mind that contains the identity. You are the part of you that is not the body. You are the part of you that is not the mind.

In other words, the mind is the part of the body that has all the knowledge. All the knowledge from the past. All the knowledge that we’re able to remember. We are the part of the mind that has all the emotions, all the memories. We are the part of the body that contains all the memories. We are the part of the mind that contains all the emotions. The body is the part of the mind that contains the feelings.

The body is the part of the mind that contains the feelings. The mind is the part of the body that contains all the knowledge. The body is the part of the mind that contains all the emotions. The mind is the part of the body that contains all the memories.

The body is the part of the mind that contains all the emotions. I know I’m not the first to point this out. But I think it’s good to take a step back and consider why we talk about ourselves in these terms and why we think this way.
