Well, that’s an interesting theory. While it would be nice if people would see through the game’s story to the truth, I think it would be a lot more interesting to see the story with a bit more imagination. We could also speculate that one of the Visionaries is actually a time traveler, and that the whole island is just a device to keep him from being discovered by the powers that be.
The only thing I can think of is that it’s just a really good story that will really suck you in and that’s why you’re going to love it.
The game’s story is a combination of things. I think the main character Colt Vahn is an amnesiac who suddenly finds himself on the island of Deathloop. Maybe he’s the head security guy, but he’s just trying to make some money, because he needs the pay. I think he wakes up in a beach town and he doesn’t remember why he’s there, and I think that he’s completely alone on the island because he’s a complete amnesiac.
Colt is the main antagonist, and his goal is to steal from Visionaries, which is exactly what he does. The Visionaries are the party-goers who locked the island of Deathloop into one day. They are all amnesiacs, but Colt is the only one who remembers their names.
