youtube has blocked a request to server a video I posted to their website because it violates their terms of service. The video has more than 5 million views and can be viewed here.
A lot of people think that the way YouTube works is that if you upload a video that links to your site, they’ll automatically block the video from being shown. But that’s not how it really works. YouTube actually has a few ways how they can block your videos from being viewed. On the official Youtube page, you have the option to change your site’s “Link in this video” settings. For example, you can change this to “No video of mine will be shown.
If you are like me and use YouTube as your main source of information, its important to note that you can still view videos that are linked to your site. You just won’t be able to embed the video into your website. You’ll still be able to play the video in YouTube, and if you click on a link, it will open a larger YouTube viewer and show the video the way it was originally uploaded.
This is a little complicated. YouTube is blocked in the US, so we’re not sure if it will come up in the EU. YouTube won’t show the video if it contains a link to something that has been blocked in the US, but it will show if it has been blocked in the EU.

The EU has a somewhat similar solution, an ad blocker called Adblock Plus. You can find it here.
Adblock Plus is a very popular plugin that blocks ads, but also provides a browser extension that keeps track of all of the blocked websites. We’ll go into some details in the next part of this series.
The extension is only blocked if a website is blocked in the US. It works by blocking ads in the first place. But it is then used to block the websites that are blocked in the EU. So it’s a bit of a Catch-22.
To make use of this extension, you would first have to enable it. This can be done by going to extensions.youtube.com. The site will then be located at www.youtube.com. Go into the settings and enable the extension. When that is done, you should have a website that is blocked by the extension.
